Perfect Peace Requires Trust Devotional

Isaiah 26:3 ESV

You keep him in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on you, because he trusts in you.

This is a great promise, but the last part of the verse often gets overlooked.  We hear people quote that God keeps us in perfect peace when our mind is stayed on Him.  However, the verse goes on to explain how we obtain this perfect peace.  It is not only by keeping our mind on God, which is so important, but we must also trust in Him.  This means in the good times, and especially the bad.  It’s easy to trust when things are going our way.  It is not always our first thought, though, to go to God when we are surrounded by seemingly impossible situations.  The Bible has other things to say about trusting in God.  The very next verse speaks of trust.

Isaiah 26:4 ESV

Trust in the Lord forever, for the Lord God is an everlasting rock.

Proverbs 3:5 NIRV

Trust in the Lord with all your heart.  Do not depend on your own understanding.

Trusting in God is the only way we really obtain peace.  When we put our all into Him, He will put His all into us.

Father, it may not always be easy for me to trust in You.  I tend to look at the wind and waves crashing around me and begin to fear.  You say it is fear that keeps me from trusting You.  Help me become better at looking to You for all answers, and not at the circumstances around me.  Thank You for helping me trust You more.  In Jesus’ Name, Amen!

Isaiah 26:3 Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee. You will keep him in perfect peace, Whose mind is stayed on
