There are many kinds of relationships with God. We can just believe in Him, or know about Him, but not really know Him. We can acknowledge Him only when we have time, or we can have the best relationship by spending time with Him and inviting Him into our everyday lives.
This passage from my book, “OK, God, Let’s Start From Here” (link on this site) shows we can choose what type of relationship we want to have with God. We can be as close or as far away as we choose. God will never intervene in our lives and make us love Him. His plan is for us to come to Him. He is always waiting for us with open arms. However, just because we know about Him, does not mean we have a close relationship with Him.
We need to seek Him first in our everyday situations. If we are willing to put ourselves in His hands, we will be rewarded with a wonderful relationship with Him. If we choose to stand back, aloof, we may not have any relationship with Him. We have to repent and ask for salvation before we are granted the special gift. After we do, we must decide how close we want to be to God. Do we want all the blessings, or just some of them? God will not be upset either way. He simply loves us. He just longs for us to come to Him wholeheartedly.
Decide today what type of relationship you want to have with God. If you want to be close to Him, all you need to do is ask. He will lead and guide you into what you need to do to accomplish this goal. He loves you and wants to be as close to you as He can get. Allow Him in and see what a difference it makes in your life.
