Matthew 6:12
12 and forgive us our debts,
as we also have forgiven our debtors.
Debts are not only monetary but can be seen as transgressions also. When we go to someone else to help provide our needs instead of going to God, we are putting ourselves in a dangerous position. Not trusting in God to help us in every area of our lives can be seen as sinning against God. He told us to seek Him first and trust in Him with all our hearts.
When we are humble enough to ask God for forgiveness for our transgressions, even financial ones, we must be willing to forgive those who sin against us. Freely we have received, and freely we shall give. Jesus died for our sins, not only so we could be forgiven, but so we would be able to forgive others for their debts against us.
Father, I come to You with a humble heart. I thank You for all You have done to forgive me. You have cancelled my debt of sin. Please help me remember what You have done for me when someone else wrongs me. I pray I would have the courage to seek You first and walk in all Your ways. I love You and praise You. In Jesus’ Name, Amen!
